Small change, big difference
A bright mind in a healthy body. For many this is the essence of what we seek. But what does this have to do with supplements?
Well, we believe in incremental improvements on a human-like scale. We believe that good habits affects your lifestyle, mentality and ultimately your health. That a small change can have a ripple effect on how you experience life. That small change could be a supplement. Maybe even ours.
Philosophy
Less is more
Recent studies showed the lack of impact from multivitamins. We believe you should only supplement with what you might need - and nothing more.
Aestetics for compliance
The biggest problem with supplements and medication in general is compliance. We believe that aesthetically pleasing products and branding increased the likelihood of staying on track.
No magic pill
A supplement is just that. A supplement. To live a healthy and balanced life you still need to eat healthy, exercise, sleep well and socialize.
A conscious balance
Health can be pretentious. We don't want that. It's okay to eat a burger, go out with your friends, and don't sleep for a weekend. Everything at its time. We just ask for you to be aware of what you need and why.
Why supplements?
Biological effects (health benefits)
Let's balance expectations.
Generally speaking, a supplement can't boost any health goal - but it can get you up to par, if you have a deficit.
Vitamin D
Essential vitamin with loads of health benefits, such as a normal functioning immune system, cell division, muscle function and most importantly your ability to absorb calcium, thereby maintaining your bones.
Often taken with vitamin K2 as it supports the beneficial effects of vitamin D3.
Iron
More than 20% of danish women in the birth giving age has an iron deficit. It's mostly felt as extreme tiredness and general fatigue. So while iron has numerous health benefits, it's most famous for reducing tiredness and fatigue.
It also contributes to a normal oxygen transport and formation of red blood cells and haemoglobin.
Omega-3
Omega-3's are essential fatty acids contributing to a normal brain and heart function, along with your vision. The most essential are called Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA).
There's little evidence that it helps your memory, emotional wellbeing and/or healthy joints. So please don't make these claims as they aren't authorized by the EU.
Supplements as a catalyst
Health is more than a capsule, and we're called Good Habit Co. for a reason.
A wise general once said "If you want to change the world, start by making your bed every day".
We think that a small daily ritual, like our supplement, can start a daily spiral and momentum of good and healthy habits. Wake up, eat your supplements, skip the morning scroll, drink a large glass of water, make your bed, etc. etc. You get the drill.
And while the immediate impact of a supplement can be debated, the effect of a good nights sleep or 2L of water every day can't.
"Like a retirement plan"
A supplement can
- bring you back to par, if you have a deficit
- prevent you from developing a deficit
In case of the latter, you'll most likely not feel any big immediate difference. Sort of like a retirement plan. It's compounding and while the immediate effect is small, you'll feel the impact later in life.
Algae Oil
Instead of fish oil, we offer a plantbased omega-3 oil derived from the microalgae Schizochytrium.
Historically, it's been too expensive to make algae oil, but production facilities are becoming more effecient.
- Contains the same omega-3 fatty acids as fish oil (They're called EPA and DHA)
- It's more sustainable than fish oil production
- A minimum of heavy metals (bottom of the food chain)
- No animals harmed in the process
Recommended for everyone who doesn't eat fatty fish two times a week.
Plantbased Diet
Society is becoming more plantbased - as it should be. However, when doing so, we miss out on some essential vitamins found in animal products.
The most important are B12 and calcium. B12 helps our energy metabolism (our body's ability to make energy from food) and calcium supports our bones.
- Contains B2, B12, Calcium, Zink and Selenium to fill gaps of a plantbased diet.
- Contains D3 and K2 to support a lack of exposure to sunlight.
- Contains B9, as the body can exchange B12 for B9, so both should be taken together.
OBS! If people don't eat a plantbased diet, then rather recommend a basic vitamin D supplement found in Matas/Helsam. Preferably from an oil.
Iron + Vitamin C
Non-haeme and plantbased iron supplement from a source called Ferrobisglycinat.
Usually recommended for young women who menstruate regularly.
- Contains vitamin C, as it helps the body absorb iron
- Tolerable for the stomach, compared to e.g. Iron sulfat
- High bioavailability
OBS! Should be taken seperate from calcium (like the Plantbased Diet multivitamin).
