Jonas Gertsen

Professional Runner & 4th Fastest Dane ever in 10.000m

Jonas runs 10 kilometers in 28 minutes and 11 seconds. That’s fast. The fastest in 23 years, actually.

Now the only question is whether it’s fast enough to punch a ticket to the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

We’ve done our part to help make it happen. Jonas is a new Good Athlete, and when he’s chasing new records and a spot at the 2028 Olympics, he’s got GoodDay™ electrolytes in his bottle.

@jonasgertsen

The “sacrifices” I’ve made to get where I am haven’t felt like sacrifices at all. If anything, it would have felt like sacrificing a big part of myself if I hadn’t made those decisions.

What's up?

Not much at the moment — still trying to get back to running after a long injury break.

I’ve been restarting and rebuilding with a focus on creating better groundwork, so I can hopefully return with a longer, more consistent period without injuries in the future.

What makes you an athlete?

My innate passion for the sport. Running and training in general have become such a big part of my daily life and identity that when I don’t do it, I feel like I’m missing something.

That’s also why the “sacrifices” I’ve made to get where I am haven’t felt like sacrifices at all. If anything, it would have felt like sacrificing a big part of myself if I hadn’t made those decisions.

What’s the last good thing
you bought for yourself?

I got a good coffee grinder for Christmas, which is great because coffee is an essential part of my training routine.

What’s your most
recent fascination?

I’ve been fascinated by how attention works — both on social media, where attention is one of the most valuable currencies, and how that affects what it means to be a professional athlete in a time where influencers are often the breadwinners.
